Syntax highlighting

Hi,

What about some sort of syntax highlighting? Can I be able to create a plugin for this?

I found the SyntaxBox project interesting for this.

If I start developing a plugin, I would like not to pollute the original content but parsing the content at each display might be heavy. I'm not sure where I can store a "parsed" version of the content.

What do you think about it?

This would be a great plugin.  I currently use Live Writer plus PreCode plugin.  However, I have not installed the Syntaxhighlighter 2.0 scripts on my sites yet to make the code "light-up".  I think it is recommended approach to let highlighting happen client side. See Hanselman.

However, if you prefer server side highlighting on AtomSite, you could have a plugin that does this, either through the manager interface or upon entry posted event. SyntaxBox looks interesting, especially if the engine can output HTML.

Also, an AtomEntry is extensible.  So you could store the parsed version into an extension element.
